Talk/music shows – Good morning Sunday - BBC Radio 2
In the beginning of the programme, there is music that is played, mainly around the beginning of the program. This would let the audience know that the programme is about to be played. This show consist have more than one presenter, which would be as to how it is a talk show. The presenters speak about specific topics to do with what is happening around the world currently. There would be times in the radio program when the presenters would take calls from listeners, who would give their inputs on specific topics.
Sports – Football Daily BBC Radio 5
For this radio program, the sound of the commentators of the matches is mainly heard. The sound of the crowd in the match is heard, which would get the listeners to imagine as if they were there at the match. There would be times in which you would hear the presenters give their opinions about anything particular that had occurred in the match. Some music would be played during the program as a way to let the listeners know that the show is on a break. There would be a different topic in each episode; however, some would still be referred to across more than one episode, which would be a way to remind the audience of what had happened.
Current events – The world this weekend – BBC Radio 4
The programmes begin with the presenters opening with one of the biggest news, which would interest the listeners, who would want to hear more about the major news. This makes the programme unique, as the news would be. The program consists of more than one presenter, who would speak about different type of news. The program takes a serious approach, which differs to other programs, which would have a mixture of content that would please the audience.
Lifestyle – woman’s hour – BBC Radio 4
For this programme, there is a main presenter on the programme, along with guests. The idea of this would be due to how there are different things being discussed on the show, allowing there for different opinions to be said. The programmes may open up with serious news that can be relatable to the listeners. The topics being discussed are based on people’s lifestyles and real events. The content on the program focus on specific things, which would be based on how some lifestyle, shows target a specific audience.
Dramatizations – Uncanny – BBC Radio 4
Around the beginning of the program, the main character would address the audience on the current events. This would make it easy for the audience to follow the plot. There are sound effects used in the programme, which would be used to present different type of actions and to allow the audience to have some sort of image in their head of how things may look like. There is a clear emotion presented throughout the program, with it being mostly serious as a way to raise some form of suspense.
Falco is a crime drama, whereas woman's hour is a lifestyle program. With both programs, they would be both to entertain the audience. Falco has a main character, with other starring characters alongside him. This is different to Women's hour, in which has a main presenter on the show and includes different guests in each episode. In terms of the casting, Falco has a mixed casting of both genders, which contrasts to Woman's hour, which consist of female presenters and guests.
The main character of Falco addresses the audience as to the current events that has occurred, which is similar to Women's hour who addresses the audience in the beginning of their program to what is happening currently in the world, mostly if its a serious matter. Both radio shows are based on the area in England. Falco seems to be a show which follows around the work of a detective. This is a contrast to Women's hour which follows the lifestyle of women in terms of their work life and health.
